Infiniti and Red Bull wrap up the F1 season, FX in style. We now know what Ford is planning for the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show. The manufacturer has released a slew of photos and information on its new Evos Concept – a design study that will likely influence the look of the company’s products in the near future. While we aren’t likely to see many four-door gullwing hatchbacks in the Ford product line any time soon, chances are that the automaker’s artists will roll in elements like smaller, more discreet headlamps, more vertical hexoganal grille and a sleek silhouette. According to Ford design guru J Mays, the new look is penned, “not to provoke, but to seduce.”
The look is likely to command Ford design for the next five years or so, and you won’t hear any complaints from us on that front. Inside, the Evos also hints toward what’s coming down the pike in terms of interior design as well. With a driver-oriented instrument panel and an inverted ‘L’ climate system, Mays says that future Ford models will boast a more cockpit-like feel.
Befitting a true concept car, Ford says that the Evos is powered by the same plug-in hybrid drivetrain found in the C-Max Energi.

2011 Subaru Forester. Subaru has announced a long list of updates for the 2011 Forester SUV. The list of improvements starts with a new engine for the 2.5X models. They get a new 2,498 cc engine delivering 170 HP and 174 lb.-ft. at 4,100 rpm. This engine delivers 21 mpg city / 27 mpg highway.
The 2.5X Touring models receive new HID headlights (low beam) with automatic height adjustment, a display audio system with backup camera, dual zone automatic climate control, silver finish roof rails, electroluminescent gauges, and side mirrors with integrated turn signals.

Will Land Rover abandon the Defender? The Land Rover Defender may not be sold here in the United States, but its presence in the global automotive marketplace is huge. It’s Britain’s Wrangler. Much like the Jeep off-roader or even the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen, the Defender’s core styling and functionality hasn’t changed much over the past few decades, and that’s just fine with us. However, it looks like the Defender’s candle has the potential to burn out soon, according to Auto Express.
Simply put, Land Rover does not have a concrete plan in place regarding what to do with the Defender. In speaking to Auto Express, the automaker’s Colin Green said, “If we get it wrong we are messing up one of the industry’s biggest icons, and in that sense it’s a tremendous responsibility.” We imagine this is why General Motors has taken its sweet time in bringing out the C7 Corvette.
Currently, the Defender is set up to meet Euro V emissions through 2016, but after that, it’s unclear what will happen to the British stalwart. One option is to fit cleaner engines under the hood to extend the vehicle’s life, and the option of a complete redesign is still being kicked around. Auto Express suggests that an all-new Defender could be built on the same platform as the LR4 and Range Rover Sport, but it would increase cost.
Thankfully, Land Rover says that abandoning the Defender program is its least-preferred option.

The most notable change to the sturdy F-450 is the new, more powerful 6.7-liter, 390-horsepower Power Stroke V-8 diesel that packs a staggering 735 pounds-feet of torque. That crazy amount of torque allows the 2011 F-450 to tow 16,000 pounds; or 24,400 pounds when incorporating the fifth-wheel and gooseneck trailer prep package. Where the F-250 and 350 feature three cab configurations, the 2011 F-450 has only one—the crew cab, which utilizes an 8-foot bed.
